Job description

Northstar Aerospace, now part of Avio Aero - a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading independent manufacturer of components and assemblies to the global Aerospace industry. Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms.

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will contribute technical manufacturing and project management skills in developing manufacturing solutions. The engineering intern will help develop process planning (CAD) and support the manufacturing process to ensure dimensional requirements are met. An ideal candidate should be a degree seeking engineering student (preferably studying manufacturing engineering). This position is in Northstar’s Engineering Department, and reports to the Engineering Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern will be given one or two projects to complete during the summer. The intern will work with the Northstar team to complete the project and report out at the end of the internship.

The employee will be responsible for handling sensitive information in accordance with all applicable security standards, guidelines, and company policies. No security clearance is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not direct the work of any other employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, writing, and typing.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise.
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts.                                    
     

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

Degree seeking manufacturing engineering student or related engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial, aerospace, etc.).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
