Summary:
Assists, provides, and coordinates nursing care for patients to obtain and reach optimal health. Participates with the care teams in Summa Health Medical Group to provide patient focused care. Is able to maintain and adapt to daily operations, interpret and execute provided instructions, and work reliably with professionalism in a medical office environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
-Applicants with an Associate's degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment
b. Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
c. Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
2. Experience & Training Required:
a. Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of Ohio
b. Meets continuing education requirements in order to maintain license
c. One (1) year of clinical patient care experience
d. Additional related previous experience may be required for various practices
e. CPR certification required
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and clinical care
b. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR
c. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
d. Skill in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings
e. Maintains HIPAA confidentiality
f. Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies
g. Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease.
h. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team and shows ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities
i. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
j. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other health care professionals in exchanging information and assisting with patient care
k. Ability to communicate with patients, families, visitors and communicating representatives in assisting to achieve health care goals.
l. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
m. Ability to travel between locations as needed within the medical group.
n. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Light: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously.
