Description
POSITION SUMMARY: This position responds to requests for regional emergency services including suicide hotline, crisis line, access to the crisis stabilization units and jail triage dispatch, as well as coordinating intake process and scheduling for the 8 county service region and monitoring and reporting risk management issues.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in behavioral science field and 1-year experience in related field preferred. High school graduate with experience working with severe mental illness (SMI) can be substituted for educational requirement.
SKILL SETS: Demonstrates superior oral and written communication skills for effective customer service/community relations. Possesses an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including gathering and compiling data to prepare reports. Other demonstrated skills necessary include ability to be calm and attentive, problem analysis/resolution, organization, dependability and adaptability.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Must have visual acuity sufficient to read a variety of written reports and documents; hearing needed sufficient to understand spoken communications by phone and face-to-face with many staff, consumers, and external sources. Manual dexterity is required for computer programs and written communications. Work is light with some walking, standing, and sitting.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
  1. Prioritizes and provides immediate response to suicide hotline and calls from individuals with ideation and/or plan to harm self and/or others.
  2. Promptly answers access line to assess, refer, schedule and/or reschedule caller's need for information and services including crisis line calls and contacting police and/or mobile crisis responders, if necessary
  3. Completes Screenings for Crisis admissions and schedules assessment with on-call evaluator and crisis therapist(s).
  4. Collects information regarding jail triage requests and contacts on call evaluators to complete Triage.
  5. Monitors emergency weather alerts and other disaster notifications and notifies designated staff of need for precautions
  6. Monitors safety of building, Crisis units, clients and staff.
  7. Monitors security cameras for CCSU and ACSU and reports unusual issues to staff and supervisory chain to ensure safety of clients and staff
  8. Consults with supervisory chain and/or designated on-call licensed clinician for individuals at risk.
  9. Updates resource lists on local, state and national level.
  10. Compiles data for call reports and submits other needed reports or data, upon request.
  11. Participates in agency Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI) Activities

12. Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Adheres to Communicare policies and procedures.
  2. Attends mandatory in-service and other training/educational programs as required.
  3. Available to provide evening/weekend/holiday services on a rotation.
  4. Other duties as assigned.
