Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep and operational readiness of MAF properties, including the staff restandrecuperation house, offices and associated grounds, ensuring routine maintenance, repairs and cleaning are carried out to a high standard. This role requires direct handson work as well as close supervision of maintenance, housekeeping and security personnel, and coordination with external contractors and casual workers where necessary.

 

You will manage utilities and critical infrastructure, ensuring reliable supply of general and drinking water and electricity, maintaining generators and battery backup systems, and overseeing water and power reticulation networks. The post includes responsibility for procurement, storage and timely replacement of tools, equipment, furnishings and fixtures, maintaining inventories and negotiating with suppliers for best value. In collaboration with the vehicle mechanic and IT officer you will ensure vehicles and IT systems receive routine maintenance, report major budget needs, and coordinate repairs and replacements as required.

 

The role also encompasses security and property management duties: liaising with the QSS Manager to maintain security staffing and monitoring systems (including CCTV and emergency communications), negotiating and managing landlord contracts for rented properties, and leading construction or renovation projects directed by the Country Director. You will ensure all building work complies with local regulations and acceptable international standards and inspect contractor work to confirm compliance with plans and specifications. Financial stewardship is essential-preparing departmental forecasts, controlling expenditure and delivering economical solutions within budgetary constraints.

 

The ideal candidate will have proven facilities management experience in challenging or remote environments, strong supervisory and contractmanagement skills, sound knowledge of utilities and building codes, and competence in budgeting and procurement.

  • Completion of Tertiary education
  • Excellent communication skills (spokenand written)
  • Qualification in construction, logistics or management
  • Computer literacy - All MS products including Visio and Excel Prepared to develop skills in IT, Management and Trades

Desirable 

  • Prepared to learn the local language (Juba Arabic)
