Texas Registered Nurse

Qualifications:

  • Texas Registered Nurse license required; Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university preferred; Associate's degree accepted with appropriate pediatric work experience.
  • Applicant must possess the appropriate licensure and credentials as defined by the State of Texas.
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language.

Salary:

$110.00/day

Essential Functions:

  • Provide emergency care for the ill or injured, using first aid procedures, and obtaining necessary assistance in cases of serious trauma and/or illness.
  • Provide daily care of students with medical problems in the school setting, by carrying out or assisting with special procedures.
  • Provide referrals and follow-up for identified health problems as necessary to attain optimum health for each student.
  • Maintain accurate and complete health records on each student including immunization records, health history, screening results, referral, and follow-up information.
  • Adhere to the Texas immunization law securing records on each student and to update as necessary on electronic medical records.
  • Control communicable diseases (excluding and re-admission); notifying the health department of all reportable diseases.
  • Dispense medication according to state law and district policy.
  • Promote health education in the clinic, in the classroom and with the teacher by providing support and resources to meet the curriculum needs.
  • Provide health counseling for students with health problems, cooperating with principals, teachers, counselors, family physicians and other agencies.
  • Actively support the philosophy of the school district and the total school program.
  • Communicate effectively with the principal in interpreting and implementing policies, laws, and procedures of the health services program.
  • To perform other duties and functions as assigned.
