Substitute Teacher for Buena Vista School District
SUMMARY


Under the direct supervision of the building Principal, to temporily substitute as a teacher in one of the four BVSD schools.   
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following as a substitute:
  • Teach or instruct according to the lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.
  • Long-term substitutes may prepare lessons plans and instruct.
  • Provide other services and instruction, as needed, as a regular teacher would provide. 
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current Colorado Department of Education Substitute Teaching Certificate or
Current Colorado Teaching License
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to correspond with students, parents and administration. 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, parents, peers and administration.  
Skilled in oral and written communication. 
 Ability to perform duties with awareness of District requirements and Board of Education policies. 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS  
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push and/or lift up to 40 pounds such as a child.  Recess duty frequently required so should be prepared to be outside with students.
WORK ENVIRONMENT  
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.  Duties are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.
Compensation:  $150/day - full day
                           $75/day - half day
