Title: Engineer II - Substation Design
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Las Vegas, NV
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Provides engineering designservices for substation facilities and ensures that these facilities areconstructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations. Appliesprescribed methods and standard practices in performing all phases ofprojects and assists other engineering staff on more complex projects.
  • Essential Duties andResponsibilities
  • Develops economical,technically feasible, reliable substation physical and control designs.Provides technical management of multiple substation projects andprioritization of work, working collaboratively with outside consultingfirms and internal stakeholders.(25%)
  • Ensures quality control onassigned projects by providing construction support as needed, includingcoordination with construction forces and job site inspections. (25%)
  • Provides coordination andcommunication with other departments in completing procurement tasks onprojects with moderate supervision or guidance. (15%)
  • Assists and guides otherdepartments in the solution of non-standard substation design problems.(15%)
  • Provides accurate costestimates for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flowrequirements are identified. (10%)
  • Provides input fordevelopment of detailed project schedules and update project managementsystem to reflect the status of projects assigned. (10%)
  • Ensures all complianceaspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies withall policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree from anaccredited school in engineering and 1-3 years of experience withsubstation design.
  • Fundamental theoretical andpractical knowledge in substation/control engineering principals and otherphases of engineering.
  • Economic analysis methods,budgeting procedures, and company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Utility engineering practicesand procedures, construction methods and material specifications.
  • Oral and writtencommunication and interpersonal skills.
  • Equipment and Applications:PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
