Associate Attorney โ€“ Subrogation

Practice Area: Insurance Defense & Subrogation

Location: California (Various Offices)

Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid/Remote

Base Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 (DOE)

Bonus Incentive: Based on billable hours per quarter

The Client:

A prominent insurance defense law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with subrogation experience to advocate on behalf of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers. The firm is known for its expertise in subrogation litigation and provides a collaborative environment for professional growth.


Description:

The Associate Attorney will handle subrogation litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, negotiating settlements, and attending mediations. The role requires proactive case management, client advocacy, and strong litigation skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in California civil procedure, rules of court, and workers' compensation law as it relates to subrogation.

This position offers an opportunity to mentor legal assistants, establish relationships with clients, and contribute to firm marketing efforts. Candidates must be detail-oriented, organized, and adept at managing statutory deadlines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for insurance carriers, TPAs, and self-insured employers
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and mediation briefs
  • Attend court appearances, settlement conferences, and mediations
  • Manage caseload deadlines, including statutes of limitations and discovery responses
  • Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
  • Negotiate settlements on subrogation cases
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery requests

  • Maintain accurate billing records and case documentation


Qualifications Required:

  • Active California Bar license
