Job Summary:

The Partner, Sr. Wealth Advisor works in a client-focused, team-centered environment to support the team's region-wide business development and client service efforts. The Partner, Sr. Wealth Advisor focuses on an established base of clients and organically growing their practice through referrals, while leveraging a unified in-house team of experts to help clients achieve their financial goals.

Our advisors are client-focused fiduciaries who take pride in utilizing their advanced knowledge of financial planning and investments and their superior relationship skills to diagnose the needs of clients and propose solutions that fit each client's unique scenario. They are supported by a sophisticated technology platform and a team of experts in portfolio management, financial planning, tax, estate planning, and more.

Essential Job Functions for this role include:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Wealth Advisors, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Demonstrate a clear, engaging leadership style that communicates vision and inspires team success.
  • Drive cultural integration of acquired wealth management practices, ensuring alignment with Mercer's values and standards.
  • Contribute to regional and enterprise leadership through active participation in committees and strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to affluent clients, identifying financial goals, analyzing complex financial landscapes, and delivering tailored recommendations.
  • Communicate sophisticated financial strategies with clarity, leveraging strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ensure client retention through meaningful, long-term relationships and implementation of comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Utilize Mercer's full suite of services-including tax, estate planning, and insurance-to deliver holistic wealth management.
  • Maintain strict adherence to compliance and regulatory standards, upholding Mercer's commitment to client care.
  • Act as a fiduciary, prioritizing client interests and outcomes in every decision.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (preferably in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Finance); Master's degree a plus.

Experience

  • 5-15 years of relevant experience in roles such as Independent Advisor, Registered Representative, Securities Portfolio Manager, Financial Planner, or Certified Public Accountant.
  • Extensive experience in building relationships, mentoring, and managing Wealth Advisors, including:
    • Guiding advisors to achieve their potential.
    • Fostering a collaborative culture.
    • Evaluating performance and recruiting talent.
    • Ensuring clear, consistent communication.
  • 3-5 years in a lead Advisor role or managing Advisor teams preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation required.
    Acceptable alternatives: Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Investment Consultant (CIC).
  • Series 65 license required (or qualifying exemption based on designation and state requirements).

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced knowledge of financial products, planning concepts, and industry trends.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to explain complex investment, tax, and planning strategies clearly.
  • Deep understanding of economic trends and their impact on clients and the firm.
  • Proficiency with financial planning software.
  • Proven leadership in training, coaching, and mentoring junior employees; drives planner development and seeks new leadership opportunities.
  • Ability to identify process improvements and propose solutions.
  • Sales aptitude and experience preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a positive, growth-oriented attitude.
  • Strong understanding of Mercer's investment strategies and ISG; capable of asset allocation and portfolio analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% for client meetings, training, and company events.

Work Schedule:

This professional role requires availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Working Conditions:

Hybrid Schedule with a combination of remote and office work in a professional office environment, daytime hours, working inside, standing, and sitting, will be assigned to a workstation, no heavy lifting over 20 lbs.
