Job description

Division/Department: Entertainment (OTE)/Nightfall

Job Title: Stunt Performer

Reports To: Cast Supervisor

Type of position: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Employee Classification: Seasonal, Safety-Critical

Compensation: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Job Summary:

Stunt Performers will portray various characters throughout the Nightfall event, working under a specific script but also needing to improvise as their character requires. They will interact directly with audience members of all ages to create the desired atmosphere for the show. Along with dialogue and audience interaction, they will perform stunts that enhance the visual storytelling of our live performances. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional physical abilities, creativity, and a strong sense of safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and perform staging techniques and a variety of stunts, such as fight choreography, falls and pyrotechnic effects.
  • Follow strict safety guidelines and protocols to minimize risk and ensure the safety of all crew members.
  • Memorize and perform scripted scenes in a timely manner while portraying various characters.
  • Participate in rehearsals to practice stunts and action sequences, ensuring the performance is presented safely and convincingly.
  • Work closely with department Leads and Cast Supervisor to choreograph and execute action sequences.
  • Utilize and manage stunt equipment, such as PPE and other protective gear, ensuring it is used correctly and maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to work up to long days with prolonged standing
  • Proven experience as a stunt performer in live performances preferred.
  • Prior experience with various stunt techniques.
  • Basic acting skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure stunts are executed safely and realistically.
  • Prior work in theme park events and non-traditional performance settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of performers and production staff.
  • Ability to adapt to different roles and stunt requirements as needed by production.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and late hours as production schedule may dictate.
  • Commitment to working under shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check as a condition of employment.

Work Environment:

  • Standing, walking, and running in locations with unbalanced footing.
  • Varying temperatures and weather conditions; both indoor and outdoor.
  • Ability to work in environments with strobe lights, darkness, enclosed spaces, loud music, sound effects, and fog-filled environments.
  • Most acting positions require repetitive movement.
  • Ability to follow guidance from team leaders.
  • Fast paced and exciting environment.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work required.
