Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Student will be in charge of managing the Food Science Social Media Pages, along with taking photos at all major and minor program events throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
Responsibilities
  • Work with program specialist and director to create, schedule, and publish social media content for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), and others as appropriate.
  • Promote program events, announcements, and student opportunities in a timely and engaging manner.
  • Attend key program events to capture photos/videos for social media use.
  • Maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and strategic messaging.
  • Ensure content adheres to university branding and accessibility guidelines.
  • Assist with basic graphic design and editing tasks using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and peers to gather and verify content.
Work Schedule:
  • Flexible hours, typically 0-5 hours per week depending on workload and event schedule.
  • Some evening or weekend availability may be required for event coverage.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with marketing, photo taking/editing/posting
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to details.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and content creation tools (LinkedIn, Facebook, IG, TikTok, etc).
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in communications, or digital media preferred.
  • Prior experience with social media for organizations or clubs is a plus.
  • Active student in the Food Science program is preferred, as to students will be expected to attend all major and minor program events.
