What is a studios assistant?

Studios Assistants are support professionals who help maintain and organize studio spaces, ensuring that artists, performers, or production teams have the resources they need. Their responsibilities can include setting up equipment, managing supplies, assisting with administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe studio environment. Studios Assistants often work in creative settings such as art studios, recording studios, or film production studios, supporting the smooth operation of day-to-day activities. Their role is essential to keeping projects on track and providing logistical support to lead artists or technical staff.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a studios assistant and how do they contribute to the overall workflow?

As a Studios Assistant, your daily tasks often include setting up studio equipment, organizing props and materials, assisting with technical troubleshooting, and supporting both creative and administrative teams. You may also be responsible for managing schedules, coordinating with external vendors, and ensuring that the studio environment remains safe and efficient. By handling these essential duties, Studios Assistants enable smooth operations and allow creative professionals to focus on their core work, making your role crucial to the success of studio projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a studios assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Studios Assistant, you need strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of studio operations, often supported by relevant coursework or experience in art, media, or production environments. Familiarity with scheduling software, studio equipment, and tools like Adobe Creative Suite or audio-visual systems is typically required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills help you efficiently support artists or production teams and adapt to changing needs. These skills ensure smooth studio operations, timely project delivery, and foster a collaborative creative environment.

Job description

Studio Assistant

We’re a small business that supports creatives by offering a beautiful studio space for photoshoots with a curated collection of props and surfaces. We're currently looking for a part time Studio Assistant to join our growing team. You will work directly under our Studio Manager and support them in day-to-day operations.

This role is hands-on and varied — perfect for someone who’s meticulously organized, resourceful, and enjoys working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Organizing and tracking inventory, including:
  • Communicating with clients
  • Scheduling pickups and returns
  • Tracking invoices and handling general administrative tasks
  • Managing the studio calendar
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and welcoming studio space

*Additional duties may include:

  • Interacting with clients during pickups, returns, and studio bookings
  • Merchandising/organizing the prop shop
  • Handling e-com orders

We’re looking for someone who:

  • 3x days a week - Thursday and Friday with a third day of your choice  - 9am - 4pm
  • Has flexibility and is comfortable with shifting tasks day to day
  • Is reliable, punctual, and highly self-motivated
  • Is a strong communicator with a positive, professional attitude
  • Is extremely well organized and is able to juggle many open tasks at once
  • Has great attention to detail and can take initiative without needing direction
  • Is comfortable moving heavy items and using a ladder to reach high shelves
  • Doesn't mind a studio dog since she's the real boss around here

This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a collaborative environment. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

Looking to have someone start as soon as possible.

To apply: Send us an email to ------------ and a note about yourself/resume and why you’d be a great fit for the Cosita team. We are an anti-AI business, please do not send AI written resumes or cover letters.

We can't wait to meet you!
