The McGee & Co. Design Consultant provides a high-touch, personalized styling experience for clients and customers purchasing McGee & Co. furniture and décor. This role blends a passion for Retail and World-Class Customer Service, along with design expertise. In this role you inspire customers and provide a seamless shopping experience from initial design to closing the sale and post purchase engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Experience & Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the design process—frominitialinquiry to order fulfillment.
  • Deliver a seamless, elevated experience that reflects the Studio McGee brand and aesthetic.
  • Communicate promptly and professionallyvirtually andin-person.

Design Expertise

  • Apply strong knowledge of design principles including scale, proportion, color theory, and space planning.
  • Design within the Studio McGee aesthetic while adapting to individual client styles and functional needs.
  • Confidently discuss and recommend McGee & Co. products—considering details like wood tones, color variations, fabrics, finishes, and comfort.
  • Create room plans, moodboards and quotes based on the client’s needs, style, preference and living spaces.

Product Knowledge

  • Maintain up-to-date expertise on McGee & Co.’s product assortment, including materials, finishes, dimensions, and new launches.
  • Confidently speak to details not always visible online to guide clients through informed purchasing decisions.

Sales & Brand Advocacy

  • Guide clients from inspiration to purchase with authenticity and enthusiasm for the McGee & Co. brand.
  • Identify upselling opportunities and recommend complementary pieces to complete a space.
  • Achieve and exceed established sales & productivity goals.

Organization & Project Coordination

  • Manage multiple client projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Track client progress, proposals, and selections through to purchase and fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with design, sales, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery and client satisfaction.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of customer service or retail sales.
  • 2+ years of experience in interior design and space planning, with a strong understanding of furniture specifications, scale, and styling principles preferred.
  • Proficiency in design presentation software preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete and coordinate complex large orders. Highly organized, self-motivated, and proactive.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time and support general retail operations as required.
  • Scheduling availability and flexibility to meet the needs of the business.
