Job description

WGME is seeking an experienced Floor Director to join our Operations team for evening newscasts. The ideal candidate has experience in a live studio environment and is familiar with the logistical and operational aspects of video, audio, and lighting systems. You must have great attention to detail, punctuality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and maintain the live studio for newscasts
  • Keep track of broadcast cues and talent positions in studio
  • Assist talent and guests with microphone and other equipment
  • Move and position multiple studio cameras and set pieces
  • Modify and program lighting panels for special events or studio functions
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of studio space and equipment
  • Maintain a safe studio environment with responsibilities around trip hazards and set safety
  • Prepare and guide studio guests from standby locations to on-air interviews or segments
  • Support operation of the station by assisting Engineering, News, and other departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a live production environment as a support crew
  • Live video or audio experience
  • Degree in a related field preferred, audio/visual/theatrical

Work requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for multiple hours at a time
  • Usage of ladders up to 25ft
  • Utilizing a headset for the duration of live production

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday 3:45p-11:45p
  • Overtime possibilities
  • A successful candidate may be asked to work any shift including weekends or holidays

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $19.25 to $20.53. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
