Job description


Division: Academics
Reports to: Principal
Schedule: 10month position | 7:50am-3:50pm or 7:30am-3:30pm


Position Summary

The Teacher Assistant supports classroom instruction and management by working closely with the lead teacher to promote a positive and engaging learning environment. This role includes supporting lesson delivery, working with small groups, and helping maintain an organized and safe classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and smallgroup support to students
  • Assist with implementing lesson plans, projects, and assessments
  • Monitor and document student progress and behavior
  • Support implementation of IEPs and recommended interventions
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, lunch, and recess duties
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff
  • Communicate positively with students, staff, and families
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience working in an elementary school setting preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to support diverse learners and adapt to classroom needs
  • Bilingual (English/French or English/Spanish) required
