Position Summary:
Student Patrol
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Providing escorts for other students by means of golf cart or on foot as requested during a shift.
  • Observes the campus for suspicious or unlawful activities and makes the proper responses as required.
  • Conducts regular foot patrols of campus buildings, and grounds checking for security and safety violations.
  • Requires constant movement from a seated position to a standing position during the assigned shift
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
General Days/Hours:
Student employees can work up to 28 hours per week.
Must be able to work until 2 a.m. a few days per week.
Other:
Please note: All position postings close at 12:00a.m. CST on the position closing date.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid drivers license.
A thorough background check will be performed on each candidate by the Department Investigator.
No applicant with six points or more on his/her driving record will be hired in the student patrol program.
Cannot have any felony convictions.
No applicant with a history of student referrals or a history of being in front of the judiciary board may participate in the program.
No applicant with a criminal record of any kind may participate in the program.
Students desiring to participate in the program must be full-time students at the Jonesboro campus.
A student who is accepted into the program will be required to attend a four-hour training course provided by members of the University Police. Topics included but not limited to proper radio procedure and usage, proper patrol techniques, worksheets and documentation, identifying suspicious persons and events. They will also have to attend slow-moving vehicle training conducted by the Student Patrol Coordinator. A passing score on the exam will be required.
