PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to support Luther Seminary's mission of "educating leaders for Christian communities" by assisting the Admissions Team by providing digital and in-person hospitality to prospective students exploring Luther Seminary through virtual and/or in-person campus visits and recruiting events. Residential and DL students are encouraged to apply. This is an on-call, work-as-needed position - hours will vary with need (i.e. 2-5 hours/month).
KEY RESULT AREAS
  1. Virtual and/or On-Campus Visit Support: host campus visitors via zoom or in person and accompany during campus visit (including but not limited to campus tour, chapel, lunch/coffee conversation, class attendance, etc.); introduce visitors to others and provide guidance throughout the visit; follow-up with "thank you" notes or emails.
  2. Admissions Events Support: participate in and assist with on-campus and virtual Admissions events (i.e. Discernment Weekend, Youth Night, Camp Days, Virtual Open Houses, Call Campaigns, etc.); support other events and opportunities as communicated by Senior Admissions Ambassadors and Admissions Staff.
  3. General Recruitment Support: Opportunities to table at and participate in off-campus events; communications (email, zoom, phone, and in-person conversation) with prospective students and influencers (i.e. alumni, academic and spiritual mentors, donors, etc.).
  4. Special Projects for the Admissions Office: digital and print content creation, video projects, etc.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Attends Fall ( and Spring campus training (TBA) and other relevant meetings as needed (i.e. pre-event preparation).
  • Supports a campus culture where diversity is valued and inclusion is encouraged and where students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership.
  • Represents Luther Seminary in the most positive manner toward prospective, former, and current students, ministry partners and the communities we serve.
  • Executes necessary administrative tasks including reimbursement forms and itemized receipt retention as applicable.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to:
Internal relationships with: Admissions team, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Affairs, Academic Dean and Faculty, Seminary Relations, Contextual Learning, Library, Writing Center, Campus Pastor, Stewardship, Office of Technology.
External relationships with: possible vendors or Seminary partners

Requirements:

Required education and experience:
  • Current Luther Seminary student
  • Experience in admissions/student services in higher education or related experience in hospitality/ministry/nonprofit work
