Description:

The Student Success Center at Newman University is looking for a student assistant to serve at the front desk in the center. This is a paid position with opportunities to work up to 20 hours per week.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude at all times. Represent Newman University professionally
  • Provide excellent and prompt customer service via email, telephone, and in-person interactions with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors
  • Process testing materials and other confidential documents in an ethical manner that aligns with FERPA guidelines
  • Collect ongoing records for the Student Success Center including number of visits, reasons for visits, interactions, comments, and complaints
  • Resolve technical issues related to computers, cameras, and testing platforms when necessary
  • Understand the general responsibilities of each Student Success Center professional staff member and help with appropriate student scheduling based on individualized need
  • Take detailed messages for Student Success Center professional staff and efficiently share information as needed
  • Develop and update office procedures and documentation as processes are improved

  • Be a full-time Newman University student, enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and 6 credit hours per semester for graduate students
  • Handle confidential information with integrity
  • Have good customer service and communication skills
  • Have effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
  • Punctuality, accountability, and flexibility
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter who can work independently
  • Able to follow directions from Student Success Center staff
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States

Number of positions available: 1-2

Number of hours per week: up to 20 hours

Rate of pay: $8.25

Days and times needed: various times during office hours (Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.)
