Part-Time Lecturer, Simulation Hospital, School of Nursing and Health Studies.
The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies and the Simulation Hospital provides several instructional courses and professional development workshops for healthcare students, trainees, and clinical professionals. As we expand the number and range of courses, we are able to offer, the School is seeking to develop a pool of per diem physician instructors to teach various didactic and/or simulation-based courses, on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities include: participation in course development and quality improvements, didactic and/or simulation instruction, participation in assessment of participant performance, compliance with continuing education or other accreditation requirements as applicable, and maintenance of instructor certification where applicable (ie: ACLS).
Responsible for teaching professional development programs of instruction to students, trainees, and/or clinical professionals, within areas of expertise, in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. Participates in the preparation of lesson plans, evaluation and may monitor student's performance. Additionally, the incumbent monitors the effectiveness of instruction offered and utilizes advanced skills and knowledge to enhance student learning and participation.
  • Participates in the course development, provides input on the curriculum needs, program goals, and requirements.
  • Participates in discussions/and reviews of quality improvements
  • Teaches didactic and/or simulation instruction
  • Participation in assessment of participant performance
  • Compliance with continuing education or other accreditation requirements as applicable,
  • Maintenance of instructor certification where applicable (ie: ACLS).
  • Provides students with current information regarding course requirements, objectives etc.
  • May administers tests, evaluations, and/or assessments to monitors progress of individual students.
  • Disseminates information to students and may assist with exams and class presentations.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from accredited medical school or foreign equivalent
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field desired. This is not clinical practice position, though current medical licensure is desired.
Experience:
Clinical experience in areas of emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, anesthesiology or ultrasound sonography desired.
Previous clinical, didactic, and/or simulation teaching desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Commitment to the University's core values.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
