Description of Job Duties

  1. Patron Interaction: Interacting with patrons of the college and performing arts events in a professional manner.
  2. Team Collaboration: Contributing to team goals and initiatives by attending student trainings, working collaboratively on projects, and assisting the Fine Arts Venue & Guest Services Manager, Production Manager, Associate Director, and the Director of Fine Arts when necessary.
  3. Event Execution: Preparing for performing arts and external events by liaising with the supervisor on duty and fulfilling client needs whilst working with the Student Lead and the rest of the team for venue preparation and full event execution.
  4. Logistics: Efficiently set up and break down event equipment, including tables, chairs, and other necessary items for various performances and events.
  5. Volunteer Management: Interacting with volunteer ushers for the department; communicating with and coordinating them in a professional, helpful manner.
  6. Communication: Attending 'in-service meetings' to communicate with the Fine Arts Venue & Guest Services Manager about programming or season updates, changes, and other important information pertaining to employment.
  7. Box Office Operations: Opening and closing the box office during appropriate shifts, as well as opening and closing the box office for the nights of performances if the Box Office is in use for the event.
  8. Ticketing & Services: Processing and selling tickets using the online ticketing system; assisting patrons in person, over the phone, and with online orders while managing "will call" organization.
  9. College Representation: Serving as a distinguished and professional representative of North Central College at all events, maintaining a welcoming and organized environment.

  • Staff Eligibility: This position is open to both current Fine Arts staff and new applicants. New staff members who successfully complete the summer term will be considered for a fall placement if they wish to continue working in the Fall semester.
  • Professionalism: Requires a high level of professionalism and customer service. Commitment to event-appropriate attire is required (assistance available through the campus closet).
  • Availability: Position requires day, night, and weekend hours to accommodate the performance schedule. Summer availability for 4-16 hours per week is required for this specific term.
  • Technical Skills: Computer proficiency is necessary, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, take initiative, be punctual, and adapt to varying event needs.
  • Academic Standing: Must be a North Central College student in good academic standing.
