ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently searching for Part-Time Student Assistants to work at The Collins College of Hospitality Management.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership or research grants, these students employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO:
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to college standards, notify appropriate individuals of visitor's arrival, anticipate and address visitor's needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank visitors with genuine appreciation.
  • Maintain the Student Canvas Calendar with event details and other college activities as directed by the College Operations Coordinator.
  • Prepare various classroom facilities and meeting rooms for groups and for various meetings and activities, including but not limited to basic food and beverage setup, coffee and tea service, basic meeting supplies setup, documents, and other essential setup needs.
  • Sets up all banquet functions as directed, including but not limited to table linens, China, silverware, glassware, center pieces, waiting and beverage stations, and perishable items.
  • Provides and assists with basic equipment setup (i.e., audio/visual, projectors, cameras, and classroom tech).
  • Prepare and place directional signage for meetings, events, and activities at Collins College.
  • Clear and resets various facilities at the conclusion of meetings, activities, and events, including but not limited to trash disposal in dumpsters, clearing of all food and beverage dishes and setup, resetting of the facility to original space layout, clear and prepare technology for next function.
  • Reports basic facility maintenance and custodial needs, including but not limited to faulty equipment, apparent safety hazards, and any needed building repairs.
  • Assist in maintaining electronic files.
  • Always presents a professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service while following all uniform, code of conduct, and handbook guidelines.
  • Maintains works areas are in a clean and orderly fashion, including no food, beverage, cell phones, or other personal devices not always related to work duties or items.
  • Remains current on and knowledgeable on all Cal Poly Pomona events, programs, facilities, and services to provide directional and informational assistance to visitors and other guests.
  • Assist with general office duties including but not limited to scanning, copying, shredding, organizing, filling, and data entry.
  • Assists in curating social media content including but not limited to taking photos, writing short captions, and highlighting Collin's students.
  • Remain current on Canvas, Outlook, 25Live, Zoom, Canva, and other college utilized software.
  • Adhere to weekly reports, checklists, and other operational procedures as outlines in the handbook.
  • Provide outreach support including but not limited to pre-tour set up, contacting prospective students and educational partners, maintaining information folders, and maintaining a tour-ready clipboard with script and tour materials as outlined by the Student Success Coordinator.
  • Prepare and distribute swag as needed by the College Operations Coordinator or College Administrative Analyst.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must maintain good academic standing with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student (at least 12 units) for fall 2026 and spring 2027 terms.
  • Must possess self-awareness and appreciation for building strong community bonds, diversity, and academic success.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong and consistent record of completing tasks and assignments by deadlines.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and a diplomatic, professional demeanor.

Preferred
  • Must be in good standing with the office of Conduct and Integrity at the time of application and remain in good standing throughout the period of employment.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, and other software.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
