Job Description
Position Summary: The Student Success Manager is a member of the Division of Student Affairs at Stetson University College of Law. The Student Success Manager supports Stetson University providing crisis intervention and referral; consultation; training; and outreach programming to address law student needs. In alignment with Stetson's Strategic Priorities, the Student Success Manager will provide direct care to students helping them get connected to resources, strategize around academics & well-being, learn/implement skills, and more.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide crisis response assessment and holistic mental health case management to a diverse population of Stetson law students at both the Gulfport Campus and Tampa Law Center.
  • Develop and participate in outreach programs/activities supportive of holistic wellness.
  • Liaise with telehealth and off-campus health resources.
  • Manage the Turner Family Food pantry.
  • Organize client flow while exercising discretion, diplomacy, and tact in student/staff interactions.
  • Provide referrals for on-campus and off campus support and professional services.
  • Assure proper documentation and coordination of leaves of absence and medical leaves of absence in coordination with other departments on campus.
  • Provide decision support for students considering a leave of absence or withdrawal.
  • Provide consultation services to student groups, faculty, and staff within the university.
  • Participate in research and/or data collection.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the division.
  • Support and implement University and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Serve on the Student Support and Emergency Team.
  • Facilitate and implement SSET support plans.
  • Maintain all documentation of student interactions/meetings both individually and through SSET in accordance with proper privacy regulations.
  • Provide occasional after-hours' crisis support.
  • Perform other assigned functions that contribute to the service offerings of the COL and the academic mission of the institution.
  • Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role include:
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Banner and Titanium Software experience, a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Support the University's Mission and Values in their role.

Required Qualifications: This position requires:
  • Associates degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years' experience working in a counseling, psychology, or closely related field is preferred.
  • Strong confidentiality required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office, as a positive team player.
  • Should possess strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a dependable, responsible contributor committed to excellence and success of Stetson University College of Law.

  • May be required to maintain on call emergency response status in the event of emergency activities affecting College of Law.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications: The ideal candidate's qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field or at least prior experience working in a similar role or within social services
  • Prior experience in a higher education setting, especially law school experience
  • Experience in customer service or client support
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with case management software
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Banner and Maxient, a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment: Work duties performed primarily in temperature-controlled office. Requires some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking and manual dexterity in the operation of office equipment; extended periods of time at a keyboard; extended periods of time sitting for counseling sessions with students; occasional hours outside the normal schedule.
Work authorization sponsorshipmay be available for this position. However, sponsorship is contingent upon the non-applicability of the visa petition fees outlined in the relevant Executive Order signed September 19, 2025. Due to the recent federally-mandated increased financial expense, the university is not in a position to absorb thissignificantly increased cost of sponsorship for new H-1B petitions at this time.
