Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to staff and administrative support to the Student Success Center Department. This position will be stationed at the Front Desk of the Student Success Center and will manage the procedures and operations of the Front Desk; answering/transferring incoming telephone calls; providing support to college faculty, staff, students, and the Student Success Center Department. The Front Desk Clerk shall be responsible for providing clerical and daily operation support for our Peer Tutor Center within our Student Success Center department. This includes providing information on support services; assigning students to the respective tutor and managing the student flow while in the Peer Tutor Center. Other duties include collecting and distributing mail and messages; typing reports; filing; interacting with other departments; and assisting with additional assignments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Six (6) months in office areas, receptionist, clerical duties or
related experience.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office to include, Word, Excel, Power Point.
Knowledge of computers and software used in an office environment.
Knowledge and ability to handle multiple incoming calls and transfer to office staff.
Ability to organize activities and coordinate groups of people.
Ability to relate to a diverse student population.
Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
Ability to work independently and follow-through on assigned tasks.
Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage conflict.
Customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree.
One (1) year in office areas, receptionist, clerical duties or related experience.

Collaborate daily with the Peer Tutor Coordinator, other front desk staff and tutors to ensure tutor coverage for all disciplines is in place during normal business hours.
Provide daily operation updates to Peer Tutor Coordinator.

Collaborate with staff, faculty, and students utilizing our center and services.
Coordinate events for Peer Tutor Center during normal business hours.
Responsible for keeping all tutors informed of upcoming Del Mar College events.
Responsible for posting and keeping Student Success Center Facebook and Twitter accounts updated.
Job Duty
Effectively represent the SSC Peer Tutor Center to various on- and off-campus groups including the faculty, media, student population and/or the general public.
Ensure students requesting Del Mar College information are routed to appropriate service or department.
Be familiar with all aspects of Del Mar College campus services and programs.
Job Duty
Copy, file and fax documents; process reference materials; maintain files and prepare, organize, and manage materials for the Student Success Center staff; and distribute materials for office staff as needed.
Maintain calendars, visitor logs and records of appointments.
Perform other related office and clerical duties as assigned.
