Scope of Position
The purpose of this position is to provide individualized academic support to Lewis and Clark Community College students; specifically in English and writing. Key responsibilities include explaining difficult concepts and helping students with their homework or study skills.
Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)
  • Provide student-centered support by tutoring students in the Student Success Center to enhance success and retention, fostering confident and mastery of essential skills.
  • Assist students in and writing papers, promoting critical thinking and effective communication skills.
  • Implement targeted interventions for student identified as a risk of withdrawal, helping them stay engaged and achieve their goals.
  • Communicate with and refer students to appropriate student support services as determined by student need.
  • Help facilitate student support group activities such as study groups to encourage collaboration and peer learning.
  • Maintain accurate student contact records for all communication.
  • Assist in collection of student feedback through surveys and other tools to inform program enhancements that improve course completion rates.
  • Participate in self-assessment and professional development and support College-wide initiatives and serve on committees.
  • Assist students with general computer and printing needs within the computer lab.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
  • Associate's Degree required in English, writing, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and individual diversity and values.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Blackboard, and other general software.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience tutoring college-age or adult education students.
