About the team

For this Dean of Students position, you'll be working for our high school in Wilmington, Delaware called Freire Charter School Wilmington (8th-12th Grade): Freire is all about Graduation x 2 – graduation from high school and from college. We challenge our students to achieve higher than they ever have before, and we give them the support they need to get there, including individualized college counseling. 95% of The Class of 2025 received acceptances into 52 unique colleges and universities and earned nearly $4.3M in scholarship award offers. This success is possible because the Freire Wilmington community is a true family, where students and teachers work together to build the future each student wants and deserves.

What you'll do

As a member of our culture team, you'll foster a positive and inclusive school environment by implementing strategies to support student behavior, promote social-emotional learning, and foster a sense of belonging and respect among all members of the school community.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and maintain schoolwide culture systems, including behavior, attendance, and restorative practices
  • Supervise, coach, and support a small team of behavior interventionists (as applicable)
  • Partner with teachers and school leaders to ensure consistent implementation of expectations and responses
  • Build strong relationships with students and families to proactively address behavior and engagement needs
  • Analyze culture data (attendance, behavior trends, interventions) to drive continuous improvement

As a high school Dean, you model and cultivate our values of equity, love, critical thinking, and diversity through consistent practices and strong relationships. Minimum requirements
  • At least three years of successful experience working with diverse student populations; teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to lead or support a small team (e.g., behavior interventionists) while remaining hands-on with students
  • Positive, solutions-oriented mindset with the flexibility to do what it takes to support the work
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with students, families, colleagues, and community partners
Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and more. Pennsylvania employees are enrolled in Freire's 403(b) retirement plan which includes a 5% contribution from Freire.
