Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a motivated and compassionate undergraduate student to serve as an unpaid Victim Services intern. This internship provides hands-on experience in the criminal justice field by supporting the Victim Services Unit in its mission to provide information, resources and support to crime victims and their families.

Job Duties:

With the guidance and supervision of the Victim Services staff, the intern may:
-Assist Victim Services staff with administrative and case management support
-Maintain accurate records and update confidential case information
-Observe and assist with victim advocacy services while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
-Conduct research and compile resource materials
-Assist with special projects, outreach efforts and educational initiatives as assigned
-Communicate professionally with internal staff and external stakeholders under the guidance of Victim Services personnel
-Adhere to agency policies, ethical standards and victim confidentiality requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

-Work in or around correctional environment to include settings where incarcerated individuals may be present
-Maintain confidentiality in accordance with state rules, agency policy and professional expectations
-Follow agency policies, procedures and rules governing professional conduct
-Accept personal and professional responsibility for assigned task, activities and conduct
-Communicate professionally with staff, victims, families, partner agencies, and other stakeholders
-Build and maintain appropriate professional relationships with internal and external partners
-Approach agency policies, procedures and practices with professionalism, curiosity, open-mindedness, and critical thinking
-Apply knowledge gained in an academic setting to assigned projects, tasks and real-world practice
-Demonstrate self-awareness regarding personal attitudes, values, and behavior patterns that may influence professional work
-Prepare for and actively participate in meetings, events, trainings, and other learning opportunities offered through the internship
-Complete projects, assignments, documentation and other internship responsibilities in a timely and consistent manner
-Provide periodic progress reports to a faculty advisor, if required by the student's academic program
-Navigate online software systems, databases, and basic office technology

Pre-Employment Requirements:

-Undergraduate Student currently enrolled in and pursuing an undergraduate from an accredited college or university
-Preferred field of study to include Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Justice Studies or another discipline related to public service
-Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
-In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements.
