Since 2007, Shepherd Center's SHARE Military Initiative has provided evidence-based rehabilitation for military veterans, service members, and first responders who are ready to accept help and healing for their daily struggle with traumatic brain injuries and mental health concerns.
The Residential Assistant will assist the comprehensive rehabilitation team by providing assistance as needed to SHARE Military Initiative clients residing at Shepherd Center provided housing. The RA will also provide support services to follow through with the implementation of client treatment plans. Treatment Accountabilities will focus on community re-entry life skills activities and meeting behavioral needs of clients. The RA will supervise clients in the residence, and at times, during outings. The RA may assist clients with transportation requests as needed. The RA will perform vital signs and provide cues for client self-administration of medications as directed by nurse/MD. Other duties as assigned include general property maintenance, light housekeeping, maintaining stock supplies, and prompt reporting of maintenance issues. Staff is responsible for alerting appropriate manager about client concerns/issues. Attendance is required at assigned staff meetings and required facility events.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Residential Assistant will guide and monitor clients in the planning and execution of daily living tasks and provide support with the implementation of treatment plans.
  • Supervises clients in the residence, and at times, during outings.
  • Supervises or assists patients/clients/residents with activities of daily living.
  • Completes vital signs, supervises client self-administration of medications, as well as other duties assigned.
  • Maintains any client equipment utilized within the residence.
  • Performs general cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Assists with the planning, preparation, set-up, and gathering for group outings.
  • Attends required meetings and required facility events.
  • Instructs new employees.
  • Maintains all equipment in safe working conditions and reports broken or faulty equipment to supervisor.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent or other health related technical degree.

REQUIRED MINIMUM CERTIFICATION
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License with clean driving record
  • CPR or BLS certification required.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
  • N/A

REQUIRED MINIMUM SKILLS
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of routine office equipment such as fax and printer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Nursing Assistant/ PCT, nursing school students with one (1) semester of clinical instruction preferred.
  • 1 year of previous healthcare experience preferred.
