Application Instructions
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Tilt Deck Driver with a valid Class B CDL and equipment hauling experience to support our road construction operations.
Position Description
This position is responsible for transporting construction equipment, small to mid-sized machinery, tools, and materials to and from job sites in a safe, timely, and professional manner. The ideal candidate has experience loading, securing, hauling, and unloading equipment on a tilt deck truck and understands the demands of working in an active road construction environment.
Position Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a tilt deck truck to transport road construction equipment, attachments, tools, and materials between yards, vendors, and job sites.
  • Load and unload equipment safely using tilt deck systems, winches, chains, binders, straps, and other securement devices.
  • Inspect equipment before loading and after delivery to identify damage, leaks, or safety concerns.
  • Perform daily pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections, including brakes, tires, lights, fluids, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure all loads are properly balanced, secured, and transported in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, company, and job site safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, project managers, foremen, and equipment operators regarding delivery schedules and site access.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, delivery tickets, fuel records, and other required documentation.
  • Assist with basic maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting of the truck and hauling equipment.
  • Follow all traffic laws, company policies, OSHA requirements, and road construction safety procedures.
  • Support field operations as needed, including light labor, yard organization, and material handling when not actively driving.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with acceptable driving record; Class A is a plus.
  • Proven experience hauling equipment, machinery, or construction-related loads, preferably in road construction, paving, grading, or utility work.
  • Experience operating tilt deck trucks and using proper tie-down and load securement methods.
  • Current DOT medical card and ability to meet all DOT/FMCSA requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle safety inspections, preventive maintenance, and defensive driving practices.
  • Ability to read and follow dispatch instructions, maps, load schedules, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and communicate effectively with supervisors and crews.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and varying schedules based on project needs and weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and any other required screenings.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • This position works outdoors in varying weather conditions and around active road construction zones, moving traffic, uneven terrain, dust, noise, and heavy equipment. The role requires frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and securing loads, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be comfortable working extended hours when needed to support project schedules.
