Description:

A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) is seeking an nonexempt Student Research Assistant on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Post Doctoral Research Fellow and the Professor and Assistant Dean for Research. The Student Research Assistant will support ongoing activities of the ATSU SalivaEpi Biobank by performing patient recruitment and enrollment. Activities could extend to saliva sample collection, sample storage, and data entry. This position provides hands-on experience in research, and is ideal for students interested in oral health sciences, dentistry, public health, or biomedical research. This position also supports professional development in research ethics, data management, and clinical research operations.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recruit participants to the project.
  • Obtain participant consent.
  • Perform sample collection and sample storage.
  • Enter and verify clinical data into the database.
  • Prepare collection materials and ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of biospecimens.
  • Maintain accurate records for sample tracking and quality control.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, data security, and biosafety requirements.
  • Participate in required research training (e.g., human subjects protection, Project SOPs).
  • Assist with general Biobank organization and administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Two year college certificate or equivalent
  • Coursework or background in biology, health sciences, dentistry, or public health
  • Interest in research, dentistry, healthcare, or biomedical sciences.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow protocols and work with human research participants.
  • Professional communication skills and reliability.
