LSU School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department is currently seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1, 2 or 3 at our New Orleans location.
Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training required.

Job Duties and Other Information
Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:
  • Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients
  • Maintain and stock cabinet
  • Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Chart patients according to LSU SD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)
  • Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
  • Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
  • Check inventory and order supplies when needed.
  • Knowledgeable of computers.

Focusing on Customers: The ability to serve the needs of those who support and/or rely on the services provided.
Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to comply with policies and procedures of the organization as well as State Civil Service rules, and all applicable federal and state laws.
Appointment Type: Classified Probational
Career Progression: This position is part of the career progression group May be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 ,2 or 3.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined by department.

Compensation:
There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of
  • $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
  • $14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title
  • Pay based on years of experience for Dental Assistant 3 title

Additional compensation
  • $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
  • $2.25 per hour candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
  • $1.50 per hour for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
