Job description

Student Intern (PACT)

The Opportunity

FCA is excited to announce an opportunity for the position of Student Intern. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a Student Intern to support our PACT Program.

PACT (Parents and Children Together) offers services to young people who are at risk of unprotected sexual activity, early pregnancy as well as pregnant and parenting teens. The PACT program provides teens with opportunities for cultural and educational enrichment activities that can support the development of personal goals. We are available to those in the Village of Hempstead and surrounding communities throughout Nassau County.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on the utilization of Positive Youth Development Principles to encourage vulnerable adolescents towards choices and behaviors that offer greater opportunities for personal, social, educational and economic success.
  • Assist in planning and organizing monthly workshops and attending Active Parenting classes offered.
  • Assist in completing intakes, assessments and necessary documentation for tasks completed with clients.
  • Provide case management, individual short-term counseling, advocacy, and referrals to other services as needed for clients.
  • Conduct monthly home and community visits.
  • Complete and maintain client case records in a timely manner and in compliance with agency and other regulatory standards.
  • Complete all required reports, correspondence and other paperwork and submit by requested deadlines.
  • Attend conferences, trainings, outreach events and workshops.

Qualifications

  • MSW Generalist (1st year): 15 hours/week or MSW Specialized (2nd year): 15 hours/week
  • Relevant knowledge and/or experience working with high need individuals/families.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Valid New York State driver's license with a safe and responsible driving history to conduct home/field visits and transport clients

Schedule:

Opportunity available during the fall 2026 and Spring 2027 Academic School Years

14-21 Hours Weekly, Some evening hours may be required

Hours vary Monday thru Friday, Days are flexible

Supervisor Credentials:

LMSW, SIFI Certified
