Job description

Job Summary:
The Student Worker will support daily operations within Socorro Consolidated School District
by performing routine tasks and assisting staff with general duties. This position provides an
opportunity for high school students to gain valuable work experience in a professional educational
setting.
About the Program:
As part of the Innovation Zone Grant, students will have opportunities for internships and work
placements both within Socorro Schools and at local businesses or organizations.
• Work hours are not guaranteed and may vary.
• Student workers are expected to maintain a positive attitude and treat others with
respect.
• Supervisors will oversee students at each assigned site.
This program is designed to provide meaningful work experience, while also supporting our school
community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with filing, data entry, copying, and document organization
• Deliver documents, supplies, or messages between offices or classrooms
• Help set up for school events or meetings
• Maintain organization of supplies and materials
• Support basic technology or equipment needs (if applicable)
• Perform light custodial tasks (e.g., tidying common areas, organizing materials, trash disposal,
sweeping and mopping, wiping down tables and other surfaces, lifting and moving items up to 25lbs)
• Provide customer service to students, staff, and visitors, as needed
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Eligibility Requirements
To participate, students must:

• Be currently enrolled at Socorro High School
• Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA (If a student does not meet the 2.0 GPA requirement, they may be
placed on a probation period. During this time, the student will sign a contract with the
Innovation Zone Coordinator outlining additional requirements and supports to assist with academic
improvement. Failure to meet the terms of the probation contract may result in loss of eligibility
for the program.)
• Maintain at least 85% attendance
• Be able to follow directions and work independently
• Demonstrate good communication and organizational skills
• Show basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office or Google Suite preferred)
• Display a professional attitude and reliability
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior volunteer or work experience in an office or school setting
• Interest in education, administration, or related field
• Familiarity with common office equipment (printer, copier, scanner)
Working Conditions:
• Primarily indoor environment in school or office setting
• Light physical effort (e.g., lifting up to 25 lbs, walking between buildings)
• Flexible hours to accommodate student schedule
Compensation:
Hourly wage: $15.00
This is a temporary, non-benefit-eligible position.
