Job description

TITLE:  Assistant Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
                                   
  1. Valid Ohio certification/licensure
  2. Bachelor's degree
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  4. Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit
 
REPORTS TO:  Head Coach/ Athletic Director/Principal
JOB GOAL:  To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Head Coach in the following:
 
  1. Coaching individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  2. Planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
  3. Working closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
  4. Recommending purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
  5. Maintaining necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and other paperwork.
  6. Overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  7. Establishing performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach's sport.
  8. Enforcing discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishing and overseeing penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
  9. Maintaining communication with parents & parent organizations.
                                   
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. 
  2. May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students. 
  3. Excellent observation and communication skills
  4. Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
  5. Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
  6. Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.
EVALUATION:       Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
