Your Role as a Texas Pre-K Lead Teacher:
This position involves providing high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for Texas Pre-K students and complies with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements. The Pre-K Lead teacher will be responsible for creating an inviting learning environment, which fosters personal growth of all children, nurturing attitudes, and guiding the development of skills and knowledge needed for future success in school. The individual selected for this role will also establish strong relationships with parents and staff helping families build strong ties between home and school.
A Pre-Kindergarten partnership supervisor must be certified under the Texas Education Code, and have one of the following additional qualifications:
โ€ข An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or a related field.
โ€ข A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or another early childhood education credential approved by the agency.
โ€ข Certification offered through a training center accredited by Association Montessori International or through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.
โ€ข A minimum of eight years' experience of teaching in a nationally accredited childcare program or a Texas Rising Star Program.
Skills
โ€ข Knowledge of Texas Pre-K and TEA Early Childhood Education Requirements.
โ€ข Ability to determine and prioritize demanding workload while being flexible to emergent/unplanned needs and situations.
โ€ข Knowledge of, and experience with, group dynamics, facilitation and collaboration.
โ€ข Ability to interpret, apply, and audit various policies, procedures, and regulations.
โ€ข Ability to exercise tact and discretion in all staff, child and family interactions.
โ€ข Ability to handle highly stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands
โ€ข Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time.
โ€ข Manipulation of hands, arms, and fingers for pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 lbs regularly throughout the day.
โ€ข Ability to get up and down from sitting on the floor or in a chair.
โ€ข Balance, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, running to be physically active at a child's level.
โ€ข Ability and willingness to be exposed to weather conditions that are prevalent during outside.
