RecSports Official Student - BASKETBALL

Salary/Position Classification
  • 16.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 5-20 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No
Purpose of Position

Support RecSports programming by officiating basketball games, enforcing rules, and ensuring a safe, fair, and welcoming environment for all participants.
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Enforce all RecSports, university, and facility policies, procedures, and game rules
  • Set up and take down courts/fields and check out equipment or jerseys as needed
  • Verify player eligibility and check ID cards prior to games
  • Maintain game integrity by ensuring sportsmanship, managing conflicts, and reporting issues to supervisors
  • Record and report scores using department provided technology
  • Be punctual, alert, and professional during all scheduled shifts and events
  • Assist with special events, field maintenance, and sanitation tasks
  • Assist with maintaining and cleaning up RecSports storage spaces as needed
  • Attend required trainings and meetings; wear appropriate PPE as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience with playing or officiating basketball, with familiarity in high school rules and regulations.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience playing basketball at the high school level or higher
  • Experience with officiating high school level sports or higher
  • Demonstrated understanding basketball rules and regulations (high school or higher)
  • Certification in officiating
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED.
