As a Student Services Assistant I, you will serve as a trusted resource for prospective and current students, providing guidance on admissions requirements, residency classifications, academic policies, and available university resources. Through your interactions, you will help students navigate important enrollment processes and create a positive first impression of the university.
This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in higher education administration while contributing to a student-centered team committed to exceptional service. In addition to advising students on undergraduate and graduate admissions processes, you will support the ongoing development of customer service team members and help ensure students receive accurate, timely, and professional assistance. Summary of Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and current students, providing accurate and timely information about admissions requirements for undergraduate and graduate programs. Advise students on Utah residency requirements to ensure compliance with state guidelines and university policies. Guide students through the application process, including assistance with required documents, deadlines, and troubleshooting common issues. Address inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions, ensuring high levels of customer service and professionalism.
  • Organize, maintain, and update student records, files, and databases in the Student Information System Banner to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Regularly audit and review records to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of ongoing training programs for the customer service team, focusing on admissions policies, system use, and effective communication techniques. Act as a resource for customer service team members, addressing questions and providing mentorship as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate services and enhance the student experience. Provide logistical and administrative support for admissions-related events and activities.
  • Assists and contributes to a variety of Admissions projects as needed.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience totaling four years is required.
For example:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • OR an associate degree (2 years) + 2 years of related work experience.
  • OR 4 years of directly related work experience.
  • OR some college coursework combined with related experience totaling 4 years.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of college admission policy and procedures.
