Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP)is the largest veterinary-owned distributor in Canada. Located in St. Marys, Ontario, our primary purpose is to ensure that veterinarians have the supplies they need, when they need it, to provide healthcare to all types of animals. We are looking for new members to join our Operations team in the Student Warehouse Associate role. Be a part of the supply chain industry and join VP!


STUDENT WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE


Student Warehouse Associates are responsible for performing various warehouse duties associated with the proper picking, verifying, and packing of product orders; ensuring that clinics receive their product in good condition and in a timely manner. Being part of a team, we all play a vital role in helping to maintain a clean, well-ordered, and safe working environment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pick and verify product orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Pack orders to ensure product is not damaged during transport and that all shipping labels are applied, as required.
  • Maintain warehouse to ensure that the proper amount of product is available and that shelves are neat and free of excess packaging material and debris.
  • Complete daily warehouse preparation jobs, as assigned.
  • Understand and follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Note: This position requires employees to walk/stand for the entirety of their shift, and lift up to 50lbs, as needed.


Health & Safety

  • Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and follows VP's policies and procedures
  • Conducts self with regard for the safety of all employees
  • Participates in health and safety training, meetings, and drills as required; is aware of safety and evacuation procedures
  • Reports any health & safety violations or hazards to appropriate contacts (JHSC Representatives, Supervisors, Managers)


Good Manufacturing Practices:

  • Follows and understands all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices

Skills and knowledge required:

  • Must be a minimum of fifteen (15) years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in high school
  • Strong written & verbal communication
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team


Schedule:

Operational days are Sunday through Friday. This position requires availability to work Sundays and scheduled Statutory Holidays as needed.

  • Sunday 7:30 AM - 4:00PM (8 hours)
  • Monday to Friday start between 3:30 and 4:30 based on needs (4.5 hours)


During the school year,typical student schedules will be set on a two-week rotation:

  • Week One: Sunday (8h) shift and two weekday shifts (4.5h each)
  • Week Two: Three weekday shifts (4.5h each)


Both schedules will average between 13 and 17 hours per week. Additional hours may be available if requested.


During the summer months(July & August), hours of work may increase either by earlier start times or an additional shift. Schedules may differ week to week.


**NOTE: Schedules subject to change depending on business needs.

This is an in-person role, located at ourhead officein St. Marys, ON.


Compensation

Starting Wage: $16.60 per hour
