General Description
The position of Printing Services Student Assistant supports the implementation of services for printed materials in support of the College's mission and objectives.
Reports To
Communications and Printing Operations Manager
What position(s) reports to this position?
None
Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
OR
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Ability to read and understand directions, equipment instructions, operating manuals, and College procedures.
Ability to perform complex filing functions.
Access to a residential or cellular telephone.
Ability, if needed, to work irregular hours.
Positive human relation and communication skills.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows computer operating systems and Microsoft Office software.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Printing Services Office/Shop and the OCCC campus.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to move, lift, pull, operate and/or inspect equipment and to assist customers.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to grasp, pull, or lift materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, customers, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, printing machines/equipment, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and/or fingers.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, print shop setting.
This position requires the person to communicate above ambient noise levels and exchange accurate information in various situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Printing services experience.
Proficient in using Microsoft Windows and/or Microsoft Excel software.

Operate copying and duplicating systems according to specified guidelines for quality and cost effectiveness.
Provide input to the Printing Services Technician or Assistant in reference to copying and duplicating equipment problems, as well as bindery equipment problems.
Assist in recording and maintaining records for copying and duplicating systems production, learning packets, materials inventory, and supplies inventory.
Operate all Printing Services production equipment using skills and knowledge to take originals through various stages to completed form.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and storage area.
Advise the Printing Services Technician on significant matters.
Keep the office and warehouse areas clean and organized.
Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)
Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
