Campus Life Student Assistant
Job Description:
The Campus Life Student Assistant will be responsible for managing the Campus Life Suite after hours so students can utilize the space. This includes ensuring the space stays well-maintained and that rules are being followed. Students in this role will also be able to work select events, like Family Weekend, as well. Minimum shift time will be two hours at a time. Students will be paid $12 an hour. Job duties will include:
  • Answering guests questions
  • Ensuring that the space is safe and welcoming for students
  • Checking equipment in and out
  • Answering the Campus Life main phone line
  • Conduct daily building walkthroughs of the Connell Student Center
  • Maintaining detailed notes of questions and occurrences to be shared with Campus Life professional staff

Expectations and Information
  • Students must have work study for this job.
  • Working hours will be between 10am and 2pm, and 4:30pm and 8:30pm Monday through Friday (Friday will only have the 10am -2pm shift), and 6pm-8pm on Sunday.
  • Shifts are a minimum of two hours each
  • Student workers must bring a charged and working tablet or laptop to every shift to be used for basic internet-based tasks, like equipment check-out assistance.
  • Successful Campus Life Student Assistants will be knowledgeable about the offerings of the Campus Life and Student Involvement Office.
  • All students in this role must feel comfortable working independently without professional staff, managing their peers, and requesting help from Mercer resources, like Mercer Police, when necessary.
