Qualifications:
  • Eligible for State of Delaware Certification as School Principal/Assistant Principal
  • Master's degree
  • Minimum five years of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of current laws, research and best practices in education
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
  • Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
  • Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Assumes responsibility for implementing discipline procedures for students as stated in the Student Manual and according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Department of Ed Standards
  • Assist with all other discipline and school climate needs as deemed applicable
  • Analyzes school wide data to reduce discipline referrals
  • Works in conjunction with students, parents, teachers, the psychologist, and educational diagnosticians to develop innovative strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive plans for students who exhibit at-risk behaviors
  • Acts in a supportive role with the administrative team in working with parents, teachers, and the community to promote the effective flow of communication and ensure positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Listens and responds to parent concerns with sensitivity
  • Conducts parent and student meetings, and promotes good school-parent relationships when discussing specific student problems with parents
  • Available to work extended hours as applicable
