Job Summary
Columbus State University (CSU) is seeking detail-oriented and motivated GIS Interns to support the CSU GIS Team at Fort Benning. This internship is part of an Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA) between CSU and Fort Benning, aimed at enhancing geospatial capabilities for the Directorate of Public Works (DPW). Interns will play a key role in building and maintaining an Enterprise GIS system that supports infrastructure planning, asset management, and operational efficiency across the installation.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in cataloging and linking historical and current as-built drawings to GIS spatial objects using a custom web application.
  • Conduct field verification of over 5,000 Real Property assets not currently represented in DPW's GIS.
  • Organize and digitize legacy records, including a 7-year backlog of CD/DVD-based documentation.
  • Collaborate with CSU GIS staff and Fort Benning personnel to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Required Qualifications
  • At least one college level GIS course that provides experience with ArcGIS Pro and the following topics
    • Data management of feature classes and attribute tables
    • Coded domain values & enumerations
    • Attribute Field Types
    • Definition Queries using SQL
  • Preference will be given to applications with Experience in the following ArcGIS Online features
    • Web Maps & Applications such as Experience Builder & Survey 123
    • Expression languages
      • Arcade Expression Language for attribute rules & content display
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Excel
    • Lists
    • Pivot tables
    • Logic statements
    • Hyperlinks
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Proposed Salary
This position is an hourly position paying $20 per hour. This position works up to 25 hours per week.
