Anticipated start date is August 4th, 2026
Position Purpose
The Academic Assistant works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for working with certified professional staff to help reinforce student learning and behavior in the classroom. The Academic Assistant can also substitute in classrooms as needed.
Job Duties
  • Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
  • Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implements assigned programs as directed by certified instructional staff.
  • Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills as direct by certified instructional staff.
  • Assists certified instructional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments.
  • Assists with classroom behavior management to minimize disruptions, ensures a safe and orderly classroom, and ensures students are on task.
  • Follows lesson plans provided by classroom instructor to support a consistent and continuing learning experience for students.
  • Logs daily student attendance and grades into IC for each class as required by CEC policy.
  • Assists instructors with student and parent communication as requested.
  • Assists in remote-classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs as requested.
  • Assists with monitoring students during free periods.
  • Participates in professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment preferred.
  • Substitute license preferred.
  • Experience working with students preferred.
