Position Overview

Eminent Technical Solutions (ETS) is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician to support installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems across our client environments.


Structured Cabling Technicians assist with data cabling projects, perform work according to project scope and plans, and install, troubleshoot, repair, and terminate Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, and fiber optic cable.


This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and equipment specifications. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential for coordinating with other ETS team members and building strong relationships with clients.


Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate project schedules with customers and internal teams
  • Prepare for installations by reviewing project documentation and gathering tools, equipment, and materials
  • Plan installations by evaluating locations, identifying access points, and determining wiring layouts
  • Install structured cabling systems including Cat5/5e/6, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling
  • Pull, route, terminate, and label cables according to industry standards and project plans
  • Program, configure, and calibrate equipment as needed
  • Test systems and connections to verify proper functionality
  • Diagnose and resolve cabling or connectivity issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, service work, and repairs
  • Communicate effectively with customers to address questions or concerns
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through professional service
  • Follow safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment
  • Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and materials as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve project outcomes and deliver additional value to clients


Job Requirements

  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to pass criminal background and MVR (driving record) screening
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet
  • Comfortable working at heights (tower climbing experience preferred)
  • Willingness to travel within Utah and Southern Idaho

  • Experience installing or servicing door access control systems, security cameras, or alarm systems
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Experience running and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, or fiber cabling
