Job description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician to join our team. In this role, you will lead the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems (Cat6, fiber optic), access control systems, and security devices. A working knowledge of audiovisual (AV) systems is a plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the on-site lead technician for structured cabling and low-voltage projects

  • Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber cabling to industry standards

  • Install and commission access control systems, including card readers, door hardware, and controllers

  • Install and configure video surveillance systems

  • Supervise and mentor junior technicians and apprentices

  • Interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and scope-of-work documentation

  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, and other trades for successful project delivery

  • Maintain accurate documentation and as-built drawings

  • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues efficiently

  • Follow all safety protocols and code requirements

  • Assist occasionally with basic AV installations, such as mounting displays or running HDMI cables (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in structured cabling, access control, and security systems

  • Demonstrated leadership and crew supervision skills

  • Proficiency in copper (Cat5e/6/6A) and fiber optic terminations and testing

  • Familiarity with access control platforms (HID, Lenel, Swiftlane, Verkada, etc.)

  • Experience with security camera systems and video recorders

  • OSHA 10/30 certification or manufacturer certifications (preferred)

  • AV system experience (conference room displays, HDMI, basic DSPs) preferred

  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
