Job description

As a Data Center Solutions Architect, you will be a trusted advisor and technical support professional for the WESCO Global Solutions business, with a focus on Data Center Solutions. The Technology Support (TS) team serves as a key technical resource across all supported technologies, acting as a technical advisor to the Communications and Security Solutions (CSS), Electrical and Electronic Solutions (EES), and Utility and Broadband Solutions (UBS) sales organizations.

This role focuses on the design and support of data center physical infrastructure solutions, including structured cabling, fiber and copper connectivity, pathways, spaces, cabinets, racks, and supporting infrastructure. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of Layer 1 network infrastructure and data center environments, with working knowledge of active equipment such as switches, storage, compute, UPS, and PDU systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish WESCO's credibility with end-user customers and deliver value throughout the sales cycle as a technical liaison. Position standards-based technology solutions and provide education aligned to customer needs.
  • Provide technical deliverables including bills of material (BOMs), designs (Visio, AutoCAD, Revit or similar tools), and written specifications. Ensure deliverables clearly represent WESCO's value proposition, including Supply Chain and Global Solutions capabilities.
  • Serve as a technical resource aligned with WESCO business leaders and sales teams to execute sales strategies and initiatives. Provide technical guidance and support to enhance customer engagement and solution positioning.
  • Partner with Global Technical Resource and Solutions Support teams to scale execution by leveraging shared resources and improving turnaround time for customer deliverables.
  • Participate in advanced technical training and continued education to strengthen knowledge of system architectures, particularly within data center environments and physical infrastructure. Maintain relevant industry certifications aligned to role and business needs (preferred but not required).
  • Act as liaison to key vendor partnersto support solution development and identify opportunities to position vendor technologies within customer environments.
  • Deliver technical presentations and hands-on training in customer meetings, technical seminars, and industry events focused on data center and infrastructure solutions.
  • Support customer engagement through WESCO innovation or lab center visits when applicable, providing subject matter expertise as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or commensurate technical experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in a technical role supporting design, implementation, or commissioning (data center or infrastructure environments preferred)
  • Experience designing with Visio preferred; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools is a plus
  • Knowledge of physical layer infrastructure design including copper and fiber cabling, routing, patching, and structured cabling standards
  • General understanding of data center environments, including cabinets, power (PDUs/UPS), cooling, and active network components
  • Industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD/DCDC or equivalent are preferred but not required
  • Strong customer-centric mindset with effective communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%-25%

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.

For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan,subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
