Job description

Amazon's Ops Tech Design Execution Team are looking for an experienced Telecoms Design Program Manager / Telecoms Design SME. You will be responsible for project management of IT infrastructure design and delivery programs for both new and existing Amazon logistics operations buildings of varying sizes. You will bring deep telecoms infrastructure expertise to every project - acting as a technical authority on structured cabling, wireless, and physical network design - while coordinating design requirements across internal teams and external vendors.
You will influence global best practices by driving collaboration with multi-disciplinary stakeholders to identify opportunities in both design and deployment processes

You will influence, advise on, and develop innovative design practices, processes and products for standard and custom infrastructure programs. You will contribute to the team's QA/QC frameworks, support the adoption of AI-driven tooling and automation, and help establish the dashboards and metrics that give leadership visibility of design quality and throughput.
The successful candidate will possess a proven background in IT infrastructure design and consulting - not just managing telecoms projects, but designing telecoms solutions. The ideal candidate will hold a BICSI RCDD credential (or equivalent) and bring hands-on expertise in structured cabling systems (copper, fibre, wireless) and relevant standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC)

You will be a team player and be able to deliver results on time and on budget. You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, having strong judgment and negotiation skills.
This role will be within the highly creative and efficient ODX team who are focused on telecoms design optimisation and telecoms design vendor management. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the use of Autodesk design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit

You will partner with the ODX internal BIM design team as well as other Amazon teams on BIM (Building Information Modelling) integration and design templatisation. You will be agile and be able to effectively multi-task, working on multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously. You will have a successful track record in telecoms design delivery as well as innovating for your customers.
Key job responsibilities
You must be able to work independently with occasional guidance and work within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks

This includes working with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
Your duties will include:
- Project managing telecoms design projects, coordinating design requirements with internal design team and managing key stakeholders including customers
- Provide telecoms design expertise and technical input across programs - reviewing designs and resolving technical queries
- Participate in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution
- Lead or contribute to design reviews, supporting quality gates and acceptance criteria across building types, regions, and vendor teams
- Utilise AutoDesk Revit to support elements of the design workflow
- Support the team's QA/QC processes, including AI-driven quality checks and standardised review checklists
- Contribute to the team's documentation library: SOPs, QC checklists, playbooks etc
- Drive automation and tooling adoption
- Support and mentor designers and BIM technicians with telecoms design expertise
- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations
- Act as a technical interface to stakeholders
- Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers
- Provide coordination support for information requests during launch phases
- Recording and reporting of key metrics to management
- Minimum 25% travelling expected
You will have the following key skills:
- Deep technical knowledge of telecoms infrastructure design (structured cabling, fibre, copper, wireless)
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
- Demonstrated ability to influence management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired
- Demonstrated deep-dive data, analytical and quantitative skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
- Ability to clearly communicate data insights to others
A day in the life
The successful candidate will work on ODX initiatives and goals to optimise the telecoms designs for our fulfilment centre network. You will work with internal Amazon and external vendor design key stakeholders globally to innovate and set standards. You will lead workshops to drive unity to our goals and deliver results

You will be a technical leader and a key point of contact for telecoms design technical escalations from within DPM but also the wider business.
No two days look the same: you might be resolving a technical design query from a vendor in APAC in the morning, reviewing AI-flagged QC exceptions over lunch, and presenting a design standard update to a cross-functional forum in the afternoon. You will collaborate daily with BIM technicians, external design partners, TIPMs, and engineering teams across the globe.
