About the role

The Senior Structured Cabling Engineer is responsible for developing external and internal relationships and will have the following responsibilities: training customers, sales, and/or Technical Services Representatives (TSR) on Leviton products and the application of these products.  Will provide project review, design and the development of testing procedures on new and existing products.


Responsibilities
  • Works with sales, customers, and trade groups to understand the technical aspects of the products in the marketplace and drive product improvements
  • Full understanding of data center architecture and cabling topologies with design level expertise
  • Responds to customer needs, challenges, and issues with possible resolution
  • Work cross functionally with BU personnel including design engineers, product managers, QC, and others on issues regarding schedule, quality, and customer challenges
  • Driving product feature improvements and facilitate new product development
  • Develop, conduct, and report product performance results to management on validation testing of new and existing products
  • Develop instruction sheet content, application notes, and technical bulletins
  • Produce communication materials to promote and train customers on technical features of Leviton products
  • Develop presentations and provide training for internal sales and spec. engineers and external customers including contractors, consultants and distributors
  • Provide customers with layout recommendations based on customer-provided facility drawings
  • Review customer requirement / specifications and identify proper solutions to meet the requirements
  • Maintain timeliness and accuracy of the technical content in marketing literature
  • Participate and contribute to Product Development Initiatives (PDI) and Product Profit Loss (PPL)
  • Test fiber solutions per specific needs and requirements
  • Work with fiber cabling systems and polarity options
  • Provide demonstrations to customer base with knowledge of copper and fiber product lines

Qualifications

Local Essential Technical Skills

  • BICSI RCDD certification preferred
  • Data Center certification
  • Copper and fiber background, understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment required
  • Copper and fiber background with understanding of electrical and light transmission required
  • Telecommunication Industry standards knowledge
  • Visio and Autocad required
