How You Can Join Us:
PEAKE is seeking an experienced Network Installation Technician with strong expertise in installing CAT6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution systems to support an on-site installation team at China Lake, CA. In this role, you will collaborate with network designers, engineers, and fellow technicians to execute key installation tasks and support mission-critical network infrastructure.
We are specifically looking for technicians who bring senior-level experience and leadership capability, with the ability to help strengthen the team environment and support junior technicians in the field. Ideal candidates may have prior experience leading installation teams, mentoring technicians, or transitioning from military communications or networking roles.
The right candidates can terminate Ethernet and fiber cables using various methods, are familiar with
connector types and manufacturers, and are experienced in testing and troubleshooting fiber optic installations using Fluke and OTDR testing equipment. Candidates should also have hands-on expertise in cable pulling, fire stopping, cable dressing, and labeling according to industry standards. Strong professionals in this role will demonstrate a team-oriented mindset, leadership presence, and the ability to lead by example while supporting overall team performance.
Work Location and Schedule: This role offers a flexible rotating schedule-spend 7.5 weeks working onsite at China Lake, CA, followed by 10 days off to rest and recharge. It's a great balance of work and time off!
Perks: All expenses for on-site accommodations and travel associated with the rotating schedule will be fully covered by PEAKE.
Compensation: The pay range for this position is $70,000-$90,000 annually, based on skills and experience.
Clearance Requirement:
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • DoD Secret clearance required

What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • 7+ years relevant experience in:
    • CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution system installation
    • Ability to terminate all forms of Ethernet and fiber by various methods, familiarity with connector types and manufacturers, experience testing single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations, experience with Fluke and OTDR testing and fiber optic troubleshooting, pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables, and labeling to industry standards
    • Experience with Fiber Characterization testing and resolution
    • Installing, terminating, and testing all forms of copper and fiber cabling
    • Installing closet hardware, including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures
    • Attending training and safety meetings, and working safely at all times
    • Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix)
  • Proven experience as a fiber optic specialist (BICSI Installer/Technician certification a plus)
  • Must be able to work safely following company policy/procedures on safety
  • Must be capable of physical activity, including maneuvering around the building (including comms closets), prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting 50lbs+
  • Leading or supervising network installation teams in field environments
  • Mentoring junior technicians and supporting team development
  • Providing leadership, structure, and accountability on installation projects
  • Ability to obtain soldering certification through a company-supported training plan
  • Willingness to complete company-supported career and professional development training as part of ongoing workforce development

Preferred Qualifications:
    • Security+ certification (preferred but not required)
    • BICSI Installer or Technician or Cisco certification(s) preferred
    • Soldering certification, or the ability to obtain certification through a company-supported training plan.
    • Experience as a fiber optic specialist
    • Applicable software or hardware training and certifications aligned with technical objectives, services required, and IT environments
