Job description

Title: Project Manager
Reports to: Director, Project Integration and Communications
Location: Remote, Hybrid Eligible

About the Role
PaulHood is transforming the mid-market CPA industry with a year-round service model that provides clients with expert tax and financial guidance. We are a fast-moving organization, and we expect our employees to operate at the same pace.
To support our continued growth, we are seeking a Project Manager who takes ownership of outcomes, not just the organization of them. You will drive cross-functional initiatives from planning through completion, holding workstreams and stakeholders accountable every step of the way. You will also support acquisition cycles by coordinating integration activities across departments and managing milestone timelines from evaluation through post-close.
You will work closely with members of the Leadership Team and functional leads to ensure all workstreams are well-coordinated, clearly communicated, and actually moving forward. You will partner with the Director of Project Integration and Communications to provide structure, accountability, and visibility for high-impact organizational initiatives.
The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, operates with a high degree of autonomy, and knows how to move a project forward without waiting to be told what comes next. You are equally comfortable turning a vague directive into a structured plan and holding a senior stakeholder to a missed commitment. You have the ability to translate complex, multi-workstream projects into clear dashboards and executive updates that make progress easy to act on.
What You Will Do
Cross-Functional Project Management
  • Lead and drive assigned internal projects from initiation through completion, taking accountability for outcomes, not just activity.
  • Independently identify what needs to happen next across every workstream, without waiting for direction, and take the steps needed to keep work moving.
  • Translate high-level objectives and ambiguous mandates into structured plans with clear owners, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Build and maintain project tracking tools (dashboards, scorecards, Gantt charts, etc.) that give leadership and teams a clear, real-time view of progress and risk.
  • Drive alignment and accountability across multi-stakeholder initiatives, including with contributors who do not report to you.
  • Prepare concise, forward-looking project updates for leadership that reflect both current status and upcoming risks, not just what has been completed.
  • Identify inefficiencies in project workflows and recommend improvements. Build reusable frameworks and playbooks that make future initiatives easier to run.
Integrations
  • Support integration and onboarding processes in partnership with Finance, IT, People Ops, Operations, and our Professional Services teams.
  • Own diligence trackers, shared workspaces (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, etc.), and integration checklists to keep progress visible, ensure timely completion, and surface delays or gaps for resolution.
  • Work with leadership and functional teams to structure integration plans into project tasks, timelines, and visual dashboards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure smooth cultural and operational integration of acquired firms.
  • Track and report on integration KPIs (client retention, employee adoption, operational readiness) and surface risks or blockers early, with recommended paths forward.

Experience You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, operations, or acquisitions support, with a demonstrated track record of owning outcomes from planning through completion.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects with a high degree of autonomy and follow-through.
  • Experience driving accountability and progress across teams where you have influence, but not direct authority.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate or similar is a plus.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, Excel/Power BI, PowerPoint, Planner) to drive project visibility and collaboration.
  • Strong skills in project visualization tools (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet, Miro or equivalent) and comfort presenting simplified dashboards to leadership.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or organizational transitions preferred.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex, multi-workstream projects into concise executive-level updates.
Who You Are
  • A project manager who holds yourself accountable for outcomes, not just the organization of work. You consider a project done when it is finished, not when it is tracked.
  • Self-directed and proactive. You identify what needs to happen next and move without waiting to be asked.
  • Skilled at building trust and driving accountability across teams with varying perspectives, including when that requires a direct conversation.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You turn vague objectives into structured, actionable plans and keep stakeholders aligned as things evolve.
  • A clear, confident communicator who can make complex project work simple to understand for leadership and staff alike.
  • Energized by the opportunity to build. You look for ways to make the next project run better than the last one.
  • Comfortable shifting gears. You can dive deep during acquisition cycles and pivot to support internal initiatives when needed.
What You Will Get
You will join a forward-thinking team that is reshaping the future of the tax and accounting industry. With a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, our gender-balanced leadership group reflects our belief in the power of varied perspectives to drive innovation. You’ll align with an organization that helps its clients optimize their financial health, enabling them to keep more, save more, and protect more of their money so they can use it for the things they care about most.
In addition to the inherent satisfaction of aligning with a business that is changing the lives of thousands of people, you will receive stock options to align your rewards with the success of the company. Importantly, you’ll be part of a team that prioritizes trust, collaboration and having fun. We work hard and value rest.
In addition, our benefits package includes:
+ Bonus Opportunity
+ Stock Options
+ Generous time off allowance (Holiday, Vacation, amp; Sick time), above industry standard
+ Paid parental leave
+ Comprehensive Employee Benefits Package
+ 401k Program with Company Matching
+ Paid Volunteer Days
+ Educational/Personal Growth Reimbursement
