Part-Time Project Manager Assistant – Data Center Cabling
Location:  Umatilla, OR
Reports To: Project Manager
Job Type: Part-Time (15–25 hours/week)/Full-Time


Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-Time Project Manager Assistant to support our data center cabling projects. In this role, you will assist the Project Manager in coordinating daily project activities, tracking progress, managing documentation, and communicating with clients and field teams. This is a hands-on support role ideal for someone familiar with the telecom or structured cabling environment who wants to grow their project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and scheduling of structured cabling projects within live data centers.
  • Track project milestones, material deliveries, change orders, and installation progress.
  • Maintain organized project documentation including floorplans, cable schedules, RFxs, and as-built records.
  • Support communication between field technicians, vendors, and clients to ensure timely updates and task alignment.
  • Help prepare project status reports, billing documentation, and closeout packages.
  • Coordinate site walk-throughs, daily reports, and punch lists as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Ensure project compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor procurement needs and assist in managing inventory or work orders for cabling materials.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or coursework in construction/project management preferred.
  • 1+ years experience in a structured cabling, telecom, or low voltage project support role.
  • Understanding of fiber and copper cabling types, labeling standards (e.g., TIA-568, TIA-606), and basic infrastructure terms.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PDF markup tools; experience with Procore, Smartsheet, or similar platforms a plus.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple project deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable on active job sites and able to interpret basic construction drawings (e.g., rack elevations, cable routes).
  • Communicate effectively to internal and external teams
